Hi, I’m Scarlett Tandy and I am obsessed with early childhood. I started out in a military child care center working with infants, then spent 3 years helping build a preschool from the ground up. After I got my bachelor’s degree to teach Early childhood-4th grade, I spent 9 years teaching PreK in the public school system. Now I consult and train anyone working with ages 0-5 years!

Chaos coordinator is a great way to explain what I do! I believe the first 5 years of a child's life are so important to set the stage for success for years to come. Most of the time I don't feel like I teach as much as I provide learning opportunities through experiences. Learning can and should be fun! My goal is to help kids fall in love with the learning process and to assist teachers in a way that makes them excited to go to work every day. I embrace the old tried and true methods of teaching and integrate them with the problem-solving, curiosity-building STREAM style of learning. I am not your typical Pinterest, TPT kinda preschool teacher. I don’t have the time, money, or eye for that.

 

Working in the public school system, I had to learn to be resourceful. Our budget was usually nonexistent and I was living on a teacher’s salary, spending my own money wasn’t an option. I had to learn how to use what I had to get maximum results. I hope to help you do the same.

 

I love solving problems so every school year was like a new opportunity with a brand new set of kids. Teaching can be REWARDING but also very HARD! There are things to make it easier and better. That’s where I come in! I will be sharing everything I got! I’ve used these strategies in my classroom and others! I’ve seen classes go from absolute crazy where the teacher hated coming to work to a room filled with fun and learning. So follow along, and let me know how I can help. The ongoing joke in my house is that I was District Teacher of the Year in 2013. I was but it's funny because it's been so long, but when I am in a new crowd my mom and other family members use it when introducing me. I was also chosen out of thousands of applicants to film an abcmouse commercial with my Prek class. That was my 5 minutes of fame that still shows on friends and families' TVs today.

 

My own education history

I have a degree in EC-4th Grade Education from the University of Houston Clearlake with additional certificates in Special Education and English as a Second Language.

My training certificate is from the Texas Early Childhood Professional Development System and I'm currently leveling up with CLI Engage!

 

 

I am also a mother of 4 adultish kids and recently became a Grammy. I am married and me and the hubby run a blended family ministry called Enjoying Your Blended Family.
